The European Commission’s European Civil protection and Humanitarian aid Operations (ECHO), funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nation agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channelled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.

The ECHO Regional Office in Amman, which is covering the ME & EN region; is seeking to recruit one national staff to be based in Amman 

for the following position of Information & Communication Assistant (ICA).

As a part of the Jordan country team, the ICA will carry out activities such as:

  • Help prepare materials for the ECHO website, social media channels and publications. Edit external reports and information products.
  • Help organize visits with key local and foreign media to ECHO-funded projects.
  • Set up and update a database of media contacts in the region. Liaise and maintain regular and proactive contacts with the international and local press.
  • Draft press releases and media briefing materials.
  • Help track, inform and monitor partner visibility obligations, and advise partners on their visibility plans and communication strategies.
  • Provide relevant advice and support to ECHO country teams and partners.
  • Participate in the formulation of communications work plans.
  • Provide EU Delegations in the region with ECHO information material.
  • Manage visibility material stocks (inventory and orders), draft specifications, identify suppliers, follow-up on production/distribution.
  • Monitor and control the use of the visibility budget line.
