Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Libya – Political Section

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Libya?

The EU Delegation offers a traineeship of 3 months (renewable once for a maximum period of 3 months as the maximum period of the traineeship is limited to 6 months) within the Political Section of the EU Delegation to Libya, temporarily relocated to Tunisia, starting in June 2021.

The Political Section works closely with Libyan and international actors to contribute to the stabilisation and democratic transition of Libya. It maintains a wide network of contacts to keep itself informed about the situation in Libya and report to EEAS headquarters in Brussels.  It hosts regular coordination meetings with EU member state embassies to coordinate positions and share information on political, security and economic developments, as well as on migration and human rights issues. Finally, the Political Section is involved in the Political, Economic, Security and Human Rights/IHL Working Groups of the Berlin Process.

Main tasks:

  • Monitor and contribute to the analysis of political, security, economic and migration developments in Libya.
  • Support the preparation of – and reporting on – meetings held by the EU Delegation with EU Member States embassies, Libyan stakeholders, diplomatic community, civil society, etc.
  • Updating internal databases and overview documents with key political and security actors, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of missions and events, as needed
