Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Algeria?

The EU Delegation offers a traineeship of 6 months within the Political Section of the Delegation, starting in April 2022, (subject to availability of the budget).

The Political Section works closely with Algerian and international actors to contribute to the political dialogue with Algeria, including via the Association Council, as well as the Association Committee and its subcommittees. It maintains a wide network of contacts to keep itself informed about the situation in Algeria and report to EEAS headquarters in Brussels. It hosts regular coordination meetings with EU member state embassies to coordinate positions and share information on political, security and economic developments, as well as on migration and human rights issues. Finally, the Political Section organises a range of public diplomacy initiatives on issues such as culture, climate change, trade and economic affairs.

Main tasks:

  • Monitor and contribute to the analysis of political, security, economic and migration developments in Algeria.
  • Support the preparation of – and reporting on – meetings held by the EU Delegation with EU Member States embassies, Algerian stakeholders, the diplomatic community, civil society, etc.
  • Updating internal databases and overview documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of public diplomacy initiatives, as needed.
