The European Centre for Global Interdependence and Solidarity (North-South Centre) is currently implementing the Project “Promoting diversity and equality” and is looking for young experts from Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region to constitute the Project’s core group.  The Project aims at developing awareness raising actions to reinforce gender mainstreaming in intercultural dialogue by providing youth with the means to deconstruct harmful cultural stereotypes and sexism according to the context of their respective realities. The role of this core group will be to determine key actions to combat multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination against women and girls in the EMEA region and to advocate for them.

The core group is constituted of 6 experts with complementary competences and experiences in intersectionality of gender equality in the EMEA region.

Its objectives will be to:

Gather relevant information, literature, testimonies, concrete examples and life experiences on the theme of intersectional discrimination against women and girls in the EMEA region;

Develop key general recommended actions aiming at preventing and combating intersectional discrimination;

Promote understanding of the issue of intersectionality and the causes and consequences of discrimination against women and girls;

Raise awareness among the public and decision makers.

The core group will get acquainted with the Council of Europe standards and tools on gender equality and on anti-discrimination. It will be subsequently involved with actors of key sectors of education, media, arts and culture.

Each member of the task force has specific knowledge, experience and know-how in one or more of the following areas:

Knowledge on international legal framework on women’s rights and international relations

Discrimination and sexism against women and girls

Racism and xenophobia

Gender-based violence against women and girls

Human rights, intercultural dialogue and global citizenship

Refugees, migrants and asylum-seeking women and girls

Youth participation and engagement

Human rights and global citizenship education

Advocacy, campaigning, social media engagement and digital citizenship

Relying on the expertise and experiences of the experts of the core group will seek to raise awareness on intersectional discrimination in societies across the EMEA region.
