The global objective of this call for proposals is: to address the root causes of the irregular migration contributing to foster more inclusive social and economic environment and stability in the region.

The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals is/are: with a maximum planned 30 months duration to enhance economic and equal opportunities, in particular for vulnerable groups by:

  1. improving the quality in the industrial fields of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Egypt in terms of teaching methodologies for teachers and trainers and skills acquisition for students;
  2. improving male and female employability by promoting job placement and creating synergies with the industrial stakeholders at the national and local level.

Sharkeya Governorate is the selected target area in consultation with the local authorities. Sharkeya is indeed one of the Governorates in Egypt that boast the largest number of Egyptian youths who wish to leave Egypt and illegally migrate to other countries. Furthermore, the 10th of Ramadan Industrial Zone resulted being the most relevant intervention area due to the presence of a dynamic Egyptian and non-Egyptian industrial force on which the creation of a high-level and market-oriented TVET Centre can have the major impact.
