A seminar on the challenges and perspectives of local and territorial development in Tunisia was organised early this month in Tunis by the General Department of Studies and Agricultural Development (DGEDA). This national seminar was part of the implementation of the pilot actions programme (PAP) within the EU-funded Support Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development project (ENPARD).
The main objective of the seminar was to share the experience of territorial programmes of rural development based on different fields: economic development, culture, tourism and agriculture with a bottom-up and participatory approach. Participants in the seminar discussed the new approaches of agricultural and rural development to draw lessons from territorial development experiences in the recent years.
