Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET) organized awareness days on waste recovery and recycling for the benefit of students from several primary schools in the Mahdia region. This action was carried out within the framework of the CLIMA project (Cleaning Innovative Mediterranean Action to boost economy) funded by the European Union within the ENI CBC Med Programme.

A visit to the various eco-technology pilot stations at the CITET Park was organised for members of the Mahdia youth centres. A series of videos on the fight against food waste and waste recovery were shown, followed by a discussion between the different participants. The debate was opened with young people on the causes of food waste and the solutions to be proposed to banish this bad habit from our society.

This day ended with a visit to the composting station within the CITET to see the different stages of the process of manufacturing a good quality compost.

The CLIMA project aims to address the environmental, economic and social problems related to organic waste mismanagement by supporting Italy, Tunisia and Lebanon in developing Municipal Waste Plans while financing the implementation of innovative technical solutions.
