Together with EUBAM Rafah – the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Rafah – and the Directorate for International Police Cooperation, the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) arranged a study visit on Work Organization and Procedures for Border Agencies on 6-8 August in Brussels, Belgium. In this trip that lasted three days, three representatives from the General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) visited the Directorate for International Police Cooperation.

The visit focused on international standards in working procedures, financial and human resources management for border agencies. This experience contributed to helping the visiting Palestinian delegation better understand how to elevate work procedures in order to achieve a modern and sustainable border management system that is in line with international standards.

The visit included a stop at the Seaport of Zeebrugge with the aim of offering a practical demonstration of the operational control procedures in place, the cooperation with other border agencies, the exchange of information system and the financial and administrative issues related.

The study visit came as the fourth and final event in a series of the TAIEX Training Map for GABC. It built upon the results of the three previous events and complemented the assistance provided by EUBAM Rafah on the implementation of the business strategy and integrated border management strategy, risk analysis and management in addition to border controls and investigative techniques.
