Mr. Ralph Genetzke, ICMPD (The International Centre for Migration Policy Development) Director and Head of Mission in Brussels, moderated a panel on “Strengthening Migration Dialogues between the EU and Africa” during a seminar entitled “EU-Africa Cooperation: Looking Forward” hosted by the Romanian Presidency of the Council on June 6th.
The panel discussion on “Strengthening Migration Dialogues between the EU and Africa” highlighted the progress achieved by the EU and Africa cooperating on migration since the Valetta Summit in 2015.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Genetzke noted the active role that ICMPD plays in dialogues and cooperation frameworks between the EU and Africa. In addition to a number of capacity-building projects, the organisation implements the EU-funded Africa-Europe Migration and Mobility Dialogue (MMD), part of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy, which supports the Rabat and Khartoum Processes that were mandated in 2015 to monitor and report on the implementation of the JVAP. ICMPD also supports the Africa-Europe Diaspora Development Platform (ADEPT), which strengthens the dialogue between the EU and Africa by building the capacity of African diaspora organisations involved in development activities in Africa.
