As part of “Back to the Future” project, sessions are held for children who have been out of school in Lebanon and Jordan.

Last week, children between 6 and 14 years old from the “Back to The Future” Barja center in Lebanon, visited the Barja municipality to present their ideas to the mayor. Each child talked about what projects he would do as a mayor. The topics were varied and concerned for example environment, safety and donation initiatives within the community. In addition, the mayor explained to the children how a municipality is formed and its role in the community.

“Back to the Future” promotes enrolment and improves retention in the formal education system of refugee children and vulnerable children from host communities in Lebanon and Jordan. This 15 million euro project is funded by the European Union Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian Crisis – the ‘Madad Fund’ – and is implemented by AVSI, Terre des Hommes Italia, Terre des Hommes Netherlands and War Child Holland.
