TunisiaPalestine: EU Border Assistance Mission contributes to illnesses detection
In order to support the Palestinian General Administration for Borders and Crossings during the global fight against coronavirus and the fight against infectious diseases more widely, the EU’s border assistance Mission, EUBAM Rafah, has donated a portable rapid deployable thermal imaging fever system. It is expected to be deployed today at Al Karamah Crossing, the main crossing point between Jordan and the West Bank.
“Fever screening systems help border and customs officials to identify from distance whether travellers have an above normal body temperature and may consequently be suffering from an infectious disease which may be brought across the border. This chosen solution is perfectly in line with the integrated approach on border security,” said Florin Bulgariu, Integrated Border Management Expert at EUBAM Rafah.
The European Union Border Assistance Mission at the Rafah Crossing Point – code name EUBAM Rafah – was launched in November 2005 to monitor the operations of the border crossing point between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, after Israel and the Palestinian Authority concluded an Agreement on Movement and Access on 15 November 2005.
