Moucharaka Mouwatina is the Moroccan Civil Society Support Programme. It has an implementation period of 36 months and is financed by the European Union to the tune of €15 million.
Souss-Massa is today the third consecutive region (after Casa-Settat and Oriental) to open its Moucharaka Mouwatina regional office with the Moroccan Civil Society Support Programme, attended by Mrs Claudia Wiedey, Ambassador, Head of the Moroccan EU Delegation, and Mr Mustapha EL KHALFI, Minister for the Head of Government, responsible for parliament and civil society relations, Government spokesperson.
Souss Massa has strong potential and is home to some of the most successful experiments in civic engagement and participatory democracy. In March 2018, the Belfaa municipality was awarded (among others) the Citizen Community Certificate (Label Commune Citoyenne – LCC), thanks to its participatory financing system which allows some of the municipality’s financial resources to be assigned to a project chosen by citizens of each settlement during consultation meetings.
