European Union experts participated in the presentation of the strategy 2020-2024 of the National Health Insurance Agency (Agence Nationale de l’assurance Maladie – ANAM), which took place on 13 January in Rabat, Morocco. This event aimed at sharing ANAM’s strategic priorities in order to contribute to reaching the universal health coverage, in the framework of a Morocco-EU twinning.

The European experts have supported ANAM since April 2018 to set up mechanisms, procedures and tools to manage the risk of disease and to reinforce ANAM’s structure in its role of public regulatory body.

Ensuring fair access to healthcare and quality healthcare services, strengthening the governance of the sector, securing the financing of the Basic Healthcare Coverage and supporting the information systems that are necessary to its steering: these are among the priorities of the different EU-Morocco cooperation programmes in this domain. The European Union have been supporting for years the Health Ministry and the National Health Insurance Agency through its different support programmes that focus on health care (Support programmes to the health sector reform) and access to health care (Support programmes to the basic healthcare coverage and the support programme social protection reform).
