The joint workshop on “Integrating renewable energy sources (RES) in the electricity networks and balancing mechanism in MEDREG and ECRB regions”, to be held on 15 April, will be an occasion to elaborate in detail how Transmission System Operators/Distribution System Operators and Regulators from the ECRB (Energy Community Regulatory Board) and MEDREG region deal with challenges that RES are bringing to the system.

The discussions from the workshop will be shared within the MEDREG and ECRB communities as a further contribution to the ongoing efforts to facilitate and develop a common regulatory culture and a regionally coherent approach to specifically renewable energy market regulation in the Mediterranean region and Energy Community.

The Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) is the independent regional body of energy regulators in the Energy Community and beyond. It is the coordination platform for exchange of knowledge and development of best practices for regulated electricity and gas markets in the Energy Community.

MEDREG is the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators, which brings together 27 regulators from 23 countries, spanning the European Union (EU), the Balkans and North Africa. Mediterranean regulators work together to promote greater compatibility of the regional energy markets and legislation, seeking progressive market integration in the Euro-Mediterranean basin.

The Association is co-funded by the European Union and benefits from the financial contribution of its members.
