The COVID-19 outbreak and the ensuing confinement has led to a spike in domestic violence, in particular towards women and children. Last week an EU Taiex online workshop brought together almost 200 participants for two days from the Mediterranean and Eastern European countries, to share views and innovative practices on preventing domestic violence.

The Israeli Ministries of Justice, Social Welfare and Foreign Affairs as well as representatives from Israeli civil society organisations participated in this exchange between high-level representatives and technical experts from Europe and the world.

TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. TAIEX supports public administrations with regard to the approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation as well as facilitating the sharing of EU best practices.
