Head of the EU Police and Rule of Law Mission for the Palestinian Territories meet with the Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute

The Head of the EU Police and Rule of Law Mission for the Palestinian Territories, Kauko Aaltomaa met with the Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute, Dr. Rasha Hammad. The Head of Mission commended the excellent working relations between the Palestinian Judicial Institute and the Mission, and underlined the EU Member States increasing interest in the Palestinian justice sector. He emphasized the importance of continued enhancement of the Palestinian judge’s professional skills and reassured the Director, that the Mission is the strongest supporter of the Institute being the foremost training provider for judges, prosecutors and auxiliary judicial staff in Palestine.

The Director expressed her gratitude for the Mission’s continuous support to the Institute as well as her appreciation of the cooperation with the Mission. She underlined the importance of the judges’ training, especially before they start hearing cases in the courts and underlined the need to continue these based on the needs of the institutions.

The Head of Mission was accompanied by the Deputy Head of the Rule of Law Section, Peter Stafverfeldt, and used the meeting to introduce the new Deputy Head of Mission and Chief of Staff, Dr. Katja Dominik, to the Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute.
