Today, Alan Bugeja, Head of the EU Delegation to Libya, has posted the following statement on the Facebook page of the Delegation on the occasion of the Libyan Revolution Day:
Today marks the 9th anniversary of the Libyan revolution. Unfortunately, once more, this anniversary comes at a time of conflict for the people of Libya.
I appeal to all those exercising leadership to reflect on the bloodshed, destruction and displacement that Tripoli and other parts of Libya have seen over the last ten months, and put the interests of the people of Libya first, by ending the violence, be guided by reason and sincerely engage in the process launched by the Berlin Conference.
This is the only way to resolve the ongoing conflict, and to resume a process of reconciliation indispensable for peace, stability, freedom and prosperity. After nine years of turmoil following the February revolution which promised so much the people of Libya deserve no less.
