The EU Representative to Palestine, together with a number of EU Heads of Mission and representatives of UK, Norway and Switzerland visited Yabous Cultural centre and Edward Said National Conservatory of Music that were raided by the Israeli authorities on 22 July. The diplomats spoke to the representatives of the cultural centres and expressed their solidarity and support to the Palestinian cultural institutions in East Jerusalem.

Culture, as a universal language, plays an important role in preserving and promoting national identity and heritage. It is a powerful tool for unity, peace, and reconciliation. Palestinians in East Jerusalem have the right to explore, share, and enjoy their culture through music, dance, theatre, and all forms of artistic expression.

The EU has been a strong supporter of Palestinian cultural organizations and will remain so.
