The European Union is taking action to protect Lebanon’s marine biodiversity. We are supporting the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research for two years with a grant of €725,000 to:

– Ensure that high-quality analysis can be produced

– Help evaluate the effects of climate change and man-made activities

– Support the development of innovative marine biodiversity assessments

– Promote awareness of marine and coastal restoration and conservation

This grant is part of a larger European Union support to reduce pressures causing harm to the Lebanese coastal and marine environment, including marine litter, as well as to support Marine Protected Areas and the creation of artificial reefs.
