TunisiaEU-funded YEP MED trains 30 young Lebanese in port logistics
Within the series of trainings that form part of the EU funded YEP MED project, an introductory occupational training course focusing on the blue sector took place in Beirut between 21 and 24 September 2021.
30 young men and women from various Lebanese regions and diverse educational backgrounds participated in the port logistics training programme. The objective of the course was to offer training in port management, customs organisation, shipping lines; as well as to raise young people’s interest in these activities and to shed lights on the logistics sector and its various opportunities.
This five-days long training programme included the following lectures: Maritime Sector & Ports; Customs Services & Organisation; Shipping Lines & Freight Forwarders and Supply Chain Management. The seminars provided the trainees with hands-on experiences of logistics operations in ports with a participatory interactive approach.
The YEP MED project is funded by the European Union’s ENI CBC MED Programme. It aims to develop methods of vocational training in the ports and logistics sector to meet and match the labour market skills needs in the Mediterranean port communities, therewith contributing to jobs creation for the youth and women as well as facilitating productive economic growth.
