In the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities, “Europe in my region” is organising a workshop on the theme “Cooperation on EU external borders: post-2020, what’s new?” on 9 October in Brussels, Belgium.
With the third programming period 2021-2027 approaching, the future of territorial cooperation on EU external borders has become a major topics in the ENI CBC community. The Commission’s proposal for the post-2020 European Regional Development Fund /Cohesion Fund Regulation provides for a unified instrument providing coherent support for territorial cooperation on EU external borders.
The workshop is a good opportunity for representatives of managing and national authorities of the ENI CBC programmes to join the discussion on the future settings and changes foreseen under a unified instrument proposed by the Commission for the post-2020. The workshop aims at highlighting the major changes for these future programmes, namely embedding the cooperation between EU Member States and the neighbouring and accession countries, as well as the Outermost regions with their neighbouring third countries or partner countries or Overseas Countries and Territories.
The EU-funded ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020 offers cooperation opportunities between partners from the Mediterranean area in fields of intervention such as economic development, education and research, social inclusion and environmental protection.
