EU-funded SAFEMED IV trains Jordan Maritime Commission on environmental legislation

The live-broadcasting training on environmental legislation for the Jordan Maritime Commission was held via Teams on 9-10 September 2020.

Overall, 15 participants from the Jordan maritime Commission attended the course. The two-day training aimed at providing an overview of the international conventions and EU legislation on marine environmental protection from pollution caused by maritime operations and maritime accidents.
The areas covered were air emissions from ships and greenhouse gases, ships recycling, Ballast Water Management convention, anti-fouling legislation and liability and compensation for maritime pollution.

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) is implementing SAFEMED IV project for technical assistance bringing together national, European and international stakeholders with the aim to raise the safety, security and protection of marine environment standards in the Mediterranean sea, with a view to implement the maritime aspects of the UfM Regional Transport Action Plan 2014-2020.
