The Council of Europe enhances the capacities of judicial and law enforcement authorities specialised in the fight against corruption and economic crime. The training session on “Investigating proceeds of corruption and their laundering” held in Amman on 23-24 April was attended by the representatives of Palestinian and Jordanian anti-corruption authorities who enhanced their knowledge and skills on conducting investigations into proceeds of corruption as well as their laundering with a view to ensure their successful recovery and repatriation.

Furthermore, this training, implemented in the framework of the EU-funded South Programme III, has allowed the participants to exchange experience and good practices at a sub-regional level taking into account the similar threats and challenges to anti-corruption efforts.

The South Programme III (2018-2020) aims to ensure the sustainability of earlier results by contributing to reinforcing human rights, the rule of law and democracy in the Southern Mediterranean region in accordance with European and other international standards based on a demand-driven approach. The programme holds as its main focus the combating of all forms of violence against women. The programme has a budget of €3334000 funded 90% by the European Union and 10% by the Council of Europe as the organisation in charge of the implementation.
