On 12-14 September 2018 , the EU-funded Open Media Hub Project is organising a 3-day activity on Telling an Impactful  story on EU issues for Lebanese TV and online journalists. The course will focus on editorial, writing and editing skills to build, enhance the skills of the media professionals and their outlets.

During the course, participating journalists will focus on producing in real time, with existing materials available online and in country, a story with a specific angle on an EU-funded project or activity. They  will produce appealing and informative  stories editorially relevant to their outlets in a format pertinent for news broadcasts.  The stories will be broadcast/published on the outlets and will be made available on the Open Media Hub’s platform and website, for exchange between participants locally and internationally.

The workshop will empower the participants to understand the basics of EU decision making and encourage them to embed EU coverage as an editorial strand of their content with a practical approach to identify relevant elements and sources of information, data, video. It will make them use the resources available to tell a story on a project funded by the European Union, to produce both broadcast and on-line outputs as part of the practical implementation of the workshop.

During the training, participating crews are asked to provide their own filming and editing gear.

The deadline for applications is on September 5, 2018. Media that have participated in previous activities and signed Memorandums with Open Media Hub will be considered first.

The OPEN Media Hub project, funded under the OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, aims at creating a virtual media hub spanning the EU’s two neighbourhood regions – south and east – in order to contribute to the development of independent media and to a more accurate presentation of EU policies, through the creation of a network of journalists. It provides skills to journalists and media managers through the fostering of professional networks, the provision of hands-on workshops, of journalist exchanges and support to audio-visual and online production.
