EU-funded Living Labs programme launched to transform cultural and tourism sectors in the Mediterranean region

The EU-funded iHERITAGE project, under the ENI CBC MED Programme, launches the international programme of Living Labs, which will introduce and highlight the changes new Information and Communication technologies will make and transform the cultural and tourism sectors in the Mediterranean region.
Virtual archaeological reconstructions, augmented reality audio guides, holographic exhibitions, augmented and virtual reality viewers are only a part of the innovative products that will be developed within Living Labs: training courses for students, researchers, young creatives, start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, public administrations, during which seminars, workshops, capacity building sessions, training courses will be organized including also tutorials for the creation of innovative technological products in virtual and augmented reality.
The Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage needs new techniques to improve its level of interpretation, taking advantage of new technologies and commercialising the latest research results. In this regard, iHERITAGE will provide new solutions through an innovation-driven growth process to promote cross-border technological transfer, Living Labs, industry-academia collaboration and the creation of spin-offs and new products, using the latest Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR).
