The fourth Steering Committee meeting of EU-funded CyberSouth project was held online last week, with the participation of representatives from priority countries (Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) as well as the Romanian partner of the project and the European Commission.

The meeting was the occasion to review the progress made within the project in the period July 2019-June 2020, to validate the upcoming work plan and to inform the priority countries regarding the extension of the project.

Since July 2019, 32 activities have been implemented and the project has already reached the majority of its objectives towards the strengthening of legislation and institutional capacities to cooperate on cybercrime and electronic evidence in the Southern Neighbourhood region. The extension until the end of December 2021 will be focusing on a more sustainable approach towards capacity building.

CyberSouth is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe. It contributes to the prevention and control of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence in the region of the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with international human rights and rule of law standards and good practices.
