Interpol 12th MENA (Middle east and North Africa) Working Group on Cybercrime for Heads of Units was held on 16-17 July 2019 in Amman, Jordan, with the support of the EU-funded CyberSouth project and the Public Security Department of Jordan. The meeting aimed to review the implementation of last year’s recommendations, to share best practices and to encourage the cooperation with the private sector.
CyberSouth confirmed its support to the initiative on threat assessment and shared with participants the results achieved within the project since July 2017. The meeting was an opportunity for the Council of Europe, through CyberSouth, to extend its offer to assist any country in the region in aligning their legislation related to cybercrime and electronic evidence with existing international standards.
CyberSouth is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe. It contributes to the prevention and control of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence in the region of the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with international human rights and rule of law standards and good practices.
