The Council of Europe and the Presidency of the Public Prosecution of Morocco have organised two activities that aimed at strengthening the role of prosecutors in the fight against violence towards women and domestic violence. These events took place on 12-13 December in Marrakech and on 16-17 December in Agadir.

These activities allowed participants to deepen their knowledge on this issue, as well as on national regulations, international standards and best practices applicable in this field.

Theoretical and practical working sessions involved leading experts from Morocco and the Council of Europe and drew upon applicable national regulations and international standards, such as the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) and other relevant international Conventions.

Similar capacity-building sessions for Moroccan prosecutors will be organised shortly in other cities of the country.
