As part of the 8th edition of the International Congress of Feminist Research in the Francophonie (CIRFF2018) to be held on 27-28 August in Paris, the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM) organizes a conference titled “Fieldwork: Innovative strategies to influence the political and social agenda in the Mediterranean“. Thanks to a participative approach that fosters the link between the academic, associative and institutional worlds, the aim of this conference is to develop strategies in order to obtain data at a local level and use it as a tool at the service of social and political action.

Attendees will also be able to visit a photo exhibition entitled “Breaking stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean region: Photographers in action”. The photographers won the FFEM photo contest last November and their award was that their photos and stories be exhibited at CIRFF2018. The exhibition shows women who are generally invisible and not well-known even though they dare to break the rules imposed by society. These portraits address themes such as access to education, institutional violence or intersections between discrimination related to gender, skin color and disability. It also tackles prostitution, and so-called “male” professions among others. Their common point is to highlight inspiring women who promote non-discriminatory and egalitarian values in their surroundings. Their individual stories are universal in scope and are a reflection of our societies.
