The fruitful collaboration between the CROSSDEV project and two Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Iter Vitis and The Phoenicians’ Route – already sealed by the signature of a cross-border agreement– continues with the participation in the first edition of the newborn International Awards.

Created by the two Routes, the award aims to “support and reward projects and innovation for the enhancement of cultural and oenological heritage and the promotion of responsible, experiential, creative and sustainable tourism”.

Many categories will be awarded during an international ceremony next October, and applications are now open for individuals, communities and organisations willing to take on the challenge.

Among the many awarded categories, CROSSDEV will assign two prizes to:

  • The best practice that involves local communities in the development of a sustainable cultural / archaeological / gastronomic or naturalistic tourism product
  • The best practice implemented by a local authority for the promotion of sustainable tourism in its area

This award is launched as part of “CROSSDEV– Cultural Routes for Sustainable Social and Economic Development in the Mediterranean” , a project co-funded by the European Union through the ENI CBC MED Programme.
