The General Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED) and the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for Intercultural Dialogue (ALF) have launched a new framework of cooperation aimed at reinforcing a citizen-led, evidence-based academic debate on the future of relations across Europe and the Mediterranean.

The partnership agreement was announced on the occasion of the UNIMED General Assembly, hosted at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice on 25-26 October 2018 that brought together rectors and presidents of universities from across North Africa, the Middle East and Europe, along with representatives of international organisations and European Union high officials.

The Anna Lindh Foundation for Inter-Cultural Dialogue promotes knowledge, mutual respect and inter-cultural dialogue between the people of the Euro-Mediterranean region, working through a network of more than 3,000 civil society organisations in 43 countries. Its budget is co-funded by the EU (€10 million) and the EU Member States (€6 million).
