An online event organised last week by EU-funded MED MSMEs project reflected on the support that could be brought to Lebanese MSMEs.
The first session discussed how alternative financing could support MSMEs in Lebanon, amidst the current multidimensional crisis and difficult economic environment which is challenging financial inclusion. The project’s experts shared their initial assessment based on a review of benchmarks and success stories from European and Southern Mediterranean countries. Draft ideas and activities presented discussed during the webinar will provide guidance and direction to MED MSMEs Programme experts in developing a roadmap on access to finance for MSMEs in Lebanon.
The second session of the day involved the working group on exports and internationalization of Lebanese MSMEs. The MED MSMEs team presented its initial findings and recommendations on a variety of tools that can be mobilized to enhance MSMEs’ access to international markets.
Interventions and discussions that took place during the webinar will support the development of a thematic roadmap on the internationalization of Lebanese MSMEs.
In line with the elaboration of policies for inclusive growth in the EU Southern Neighbourhood, the EU-funded MED MSMEs Programme (2018-2022) builds on a national participatory approach, international best practices and regional initiatives to foster the formulation and implementation of integrated policies and instruments supporting the development of MSMEs.
