ENPARD Partner International Organization “Mercy Corps” and Borjomi Local Action Group (LAG) Announce Grant Programme for the Development of Borjomi Municipality
From 22 January to 19 February 2018, ENPARD implementing partner international organization “Mercy Corps” together with Borjomi Development Group (LAG) announces first phase of the grant competition (express of interest). The grant programme is implemented in the framework of the project “Strengthening Rural Development Models in Georgia” supported by the European Union in the framework of the European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
The project is an extension (II phase) of the rural development pilot project supported by the EU and implemented by “Mercy Corps” in Borjomi municipality since 2015. The project is based on the principles of the European LEADER approach. “LEADER” is a French acronym and translates as a “Links between actions of rural development”. The project goal is to improve the life quality of residents in Borjomi municipality. In order to achieve the goal, four priorities (development of tourism, agriculture, environmental protection and sport & culture) have been identified for Borjomi local development strategy elaborated by Borjomi local development group.
Approximately 1 million GEL will be allocated in the form of small grants for the implementation of sub-projects that will support the development of the above stated sectors in Borjomi municipality. The funding process will be supervised by Borjomi LAG. The grant application can be submitted by representatives of private sector, NGOs, associations, local communities, farmers, agricultural cooperatives and governmental agencies, as well as individuals. Stakeholders will receive detailed information about grant program participation at www.borjomilag.ge, where online form of expression of interest will be placed on January 22, 2018.
Application forms shall be filled electronically. The deadline for submitting of applications is February 19, 2018.
