The PhD Summer School takes place from 16 to 21 August 2018 in the framework of the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) in the mountain village of Alpbach (Austria) and is an integral part of EFA which takes place from 15 August until 31 August 2018. Selected participants will attend the PhD Summer School and participate in the EFA for at least another six days once the PhD Summer School is over. The event is organized with the support of the ECPR and TEPSA.
We are looking for PhD students working on EUFP, ENP-, and EU neighbourhood-related topics. We encourage in particular students with a background in International Relations, European Studies, Area Studies, and EU External Relations Law. All students who complete the Summer School will receive an attendance certificate. Participants seeking credit at their home institution may request a "detailed certificate" including the detailed Summer School programme accomplished. Certificates will be delivered either in person at the end of the Summer School or sent to students' home institutions upon request.
Costs and Scholarship
Successful applicants will benefit from a full participation scholarship by the EFA for the entire period of the Forum (15-31 August 2018). Once accepted, PhD students who can provide a proof of receiving student grant/student loan at their home university may apply for a scholarship covering accommodation (incl. breakfast) and some pocket money. Participation in the ENP PhD Summer School automatically allows successful candidates to participate in and benefit from all EFA events. Overall, successful candidates are expected to participate in all sessions of the ENP PhD Summer School (16-21 August 2018) and for at least six days in EFA events (21-31 August 2018). Summer School sessions will commence on 16 August and run until 21 August (incl.).
Related travel costs, insurance, or visa-related payments need to be covered by participants. Self-funding participants can benefit from accommodation provided by the organisers, including breakfast, at a favourable rate of EUR 30/night.
