The EU’s Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative for the Eastern Partnership countries celebrates Valentine’s Day this year by inviting more young people to join the network.

The YEAs initiative offers volunteering, career building and young leadership opportunities to its network members. Through diverse on- and offline activities, the YEAs foster youth cooperation in their local communities, build mutual understanding, help shape the views on the EU and its relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood.

The application is open to everyone between the ages of 16 and 26 from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine as well as the EU Member States and the United Kingdom.

Since the launch of the programme in 2016, many students, young professionals and leaders have volunteered their time as Young European Ambassadors by organising hundreds of activities, joining international events or engaging with the 8,000+ strong Young European Neighbours network on Facebook.

There are currently active YEAs in all six Eastern Partner countries, within the 27 EU Member States and in the UK, representing over 34 different nationalities.

The YEAs initiative was established in June 2016 as part of the ‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’ project, within the EU’s OPEN Neighbourhood programme. Applications were closed in November last year when the OPEN Neighbourhood programme officially finished. From this year, the YEAs are part of the EU’s new Regional Communication Programme for the Eastern Neighbourhood from 2020 to 2024.
