On 7-8 November, representatives from the winemaking municipalities of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine are meeting in the Moldovan capital Chisinau for a networking event.

Aimed at exploring local authorities’ support measures regarding local wine producers in these municipalities, the event was organised by the EU’s Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative.

Around 25 participants exchanged their experiences in supporting local wine/alcohol producers’ cluster formations, wine exporting, and marketing their territories for wine tourism.

They will also study Moldova’s best practices in Puhoi (Ialoveni District), and will part following the dedicated winemaking session at the International Investment Forum, ‘Invest Gagauzia-2019’, held in Comrat on 8 November.

Mayors for Economic Growth is an initiative of the European Union, established in 2017 to support mayors and municipalities of the Eastern partner countries to become active facilitators for economic growth and job creation at the local level.
