With support from European Union and grants through its Climate Innovation Vouchers programme, the Ukrainian company ‘Symbol’ launched their plain bearings made from scrap ferrous metals, replacing traditional bronze. With the new production approach, the company now manufactures cheaper products, saves energy and cuts CO₂ emissions. Moreover, the products produced by the company have a service life four times longer than that of the similar products made from bronze.
The foundry in Chernihiv became a winner of Climate Innovation Vouchers, a grant programme under the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Union. Implemented in Ukraine by Greencubator, the programme helps companies to develop innovative climate technologies. The programme also breaks down policy, financial, technical and awareness barriers that have been hampering such innovation.
