On 10–14 December, an expert from Lithuania will visit Ukraine to discuss the implementation of legislation for accident investigation in rail transport with representatives of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety (Ukrtransbezeka).

This expert mission is part of a series of four events on technical investigation in the transport sector in Ukraine.

The aim of the expert mission is to follow-up on the first mission, which had dealt with the legislative framework necessary for effective accident investigation in inland and maritime transport sectors. It will also aim to advise the officials from Ukrtransbezeka on investigative methodology and preventive measures for increased rail safety.

The ultimate goal of the mission is to increase the quality of the investigation of accidents and improve preventive measures.

The visit is being organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX), in cooperation with the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety.
