The value of national research and education network organisations to research communities was highlighted in the Moldovan capital Chisinau on 3 October, when the country’s Research and Educational Networking Association (RENAM) celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Around 90 guests from 33 organisations and 10 countries gathered for a celebratory conference. The event covered a diverse range of topics, with examples from Moldovan user institutions and other national research and education networks (NRENs) that are collaborating with RENAM through the EU’s Eastern Partnership Connect (EaPConnect) project, which supported the event.
The EaPConnect project aims to create a regional research and education network in the EU’s Eastern partner countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The overall objective is to decrease the digital divide, improve intra-regional connectivity and facilitate the participation of local scientists, students and academics in global research and education collaborations.
