Moldova: Representatives of Covenant of Mayors East meet to discuss cooperation opportunities

Representatives of the EU initiatives ′Covenant of Mayors East’ and ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration projects’ in the Moldovan cities of Cantemir and Feşteliţa met to discuss how to strengthen their cooperation and promote their projects. The meeting was held in Europe Café – the main EU information centre in Chișinău.

Dumitru Roscovan, project manager of the ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration projects’ in Feşteliţa, noted the importance of promoting three particular projects as success stories in order to attract investments in sustainable development and green energy. For this purpose, a Centre of Excellence will be created in Feşteliţa with EU support. The centre will serve as an information bridge between Feşteliţa and Europe Café.

Irina Plis, executive director of the Alliance for Energy Efficiency and Renewables in the Republic of Moldova, mentioned the close cooperation with civil society in Cantemir, which actively promotes European values ​​and has a huge potential for the development of future projects.

Additionally, Victor Parlicov, country expert for Moldova for ‘Covenant of Mayors East’, highlighted the role of the signatories of the ‘Covenant of Mayors’ initiative in promoting EU standards in the field of energy efficiency, sustainable energy and the environment.

During the meeting, Irina Plis said: “We have found in this multifunctional space a lot of openness for collaboration between projects supported by the EU and hope to participate here in different events.”
