Cantemir now has the first kindergarten that is refurbished in compliance with European standards. Thanks to financial support from the European Union within the Covenant of Mayors Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP) initiative, the kindergarten offers improved learning conditions for 135 children while using less energy.

"With the help of the European Union, we have a kindergarten with warm rooms. Our children will be healthier and have better quality conditions for education,” said Elena Costanda, the director of Kindergarten no.1 in Cantemir.

The EU provides support for four educational institutions in Cantemir switching to renewable energy sources. The renovations include thermal insulation of facades, installing biomass boilers and individual heating control points, installing solar collectors and photovoltaic panels and replacing internal lighting systems with LEDs.

The project is carried out by the Cantemir Town Hall, in partnership with the Alliance for Energy Efficiency and Renewables (AEER), with  financial support from the European Union within CoM-DeP.
