Communities situated on the right and left banks of the Dniester river in the Republic of Moldova have until 8 April to apply for funding for social infrastructure renovation projects.

The EU will support the modernisation of about five social infrastructure facilities on each river bank in the framework of the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova.

Communities are encouraged to come up with project proposals aiming to rehabilitate social institutions, such as medical, cultural, sporting or educational facilities. Support will also be granted to projects aimed at improving essential community infrastructure, such as water and sewerage supply networks, waste management systems and street lighting.

Localities on the same river bank may apply for financing of up to €80,000. Joint applications developed by communities from both banks are eligible for funds of up to €125,000.

The projects should promote cooperation and confidence building between the inhabitants on the right and left banks of the Dniester river. The requirements, selection criteria, eligibility list and more details can be found here.

The European Union Confidence Building Measures Programme contributes to confidence building among the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester river by engaging them in joint projects.
