On 30 September, the EU and the Republic of Moldova held the fifth meeting of the Association Council under the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. Following the meeting, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini thanked Moldova’s Prime Minister Maia Sandu as she addressed the press.

“It has been really a pleasure to welcome you Madam Prime Minister and meet you again here in Brussels,” Mogherini said. “Let me also thank you for the large ministerial delegation you have brought with you for this fifth meeting of our Association Council.”

“The depth of our links has been confirmed today in our very intense and very positive meeting,” she added.

“We had the chance to discuss the important reforms started under your leadership to reinforce democracy and the rule of law in Moldova.”

Mogherini said that the EU support to the country “will remain conditional on reform progress.”
