Local authorities from Eastern Partnership countries have until 31 May to submit grant applications under a call from the Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative, launched on April 10. Mayors for Economic Growth aims to support local authorities to become active facilitators for economic growth and job creation by capacity building measures and strengthening their technical skills in partnership with local businesses and civil society.
The aim of the competition is to assist cities in the implementation of their Local Economic Development Plans, in close partnership with local business and civil society, and in line with principles of good governance and financial discipline.
These grants will encourage business development and entrepreneurship, improve the business environment and facilitate access to financial resources.
The overall competition budget is €9.5, million up to 90% of which can be co-funded by the EU.
