Unigran, Ukraine’s leading producer of granite aggregates, associated building materials and services, will receive an EBRD loan of up to €8.7 million for the acquisition of a new transport fleet, including railcars and trucks. Up to 70 new railcars as well as specialised trucks will be procured.

Alongside this, an energy modernisation programme will be implemented under FINTECC, an EU-supported grant programme.

Unigran’s energy efficiency measures are expected to lead to annual energy savings of up to 30%, and the reduction of 8,130 tonnes in CO2 emissions by 2020.

The loan was supported by the EBRD’s Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC) programme – with a grant of €17,440 – that covered an energy performance assessment and the identification of energy-efficient, and resource-efficient, opportunities at Unigran Group. FINTECC is designed to transfer technology in the area of climate change mitigation, and is supported by the EU.
