Over 200 children from Severodonetsk, in the east of Ukraine, the Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv have become active participants in lessons developed by Ukrainian volunteer Svitlana Batsyukova.
Building on her experience of working abroad in Luxembourg and in Lithuania, Svitlana developed three types of “Europe lessons” for schoolchildren in different age categories (8–9, 9–10 and 10–12 years).
The lessons helped convey the idea of a united Europe and symbols of the EU through EU map drawing, competitions, word puzzles and flash mobs that were organised by older schoolchildren and teachers.
The learning materials for the Europe lessons were provided by the Delegation of the EU to Ukraine.
