On 15 April, the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine announced a photo competition entitled ‘Faces of Change’. Aimed at those Ukrainians whose colleagues, family members or friends work for civilian security institutions, the competition will showcase examples of the small, and often unnoticed, things these people do for the future of the country.
The competition entries should contain portraits featuring people who have contributed to the reform of the civilian security sector in Ukraine, even in the smallest way. Each portrait should be accompanied by a short narrative about the person being portrayed and what they have done to contribute to the reform process within their institution.
The competition will run from 12 April – 6 May 2019. It is open to anyone over 18 years of age, apart from staff members at EUAM or their close relatives (parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, spouses, etc.), who are excluded in order to avoid accusations of bias. Individuals may submit as many entries as they like.
EUAM provides advice, training and equipment for law enforcement and rule of law institutions in Ukraine. These institutions include the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police of Ukraine, the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Fiscal Service (State Tax Service and State Customs Service), the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Council of Judges of Ukraine.
