EU4Energy: Natural gas market reforms discussed in Belarus

On 23 July, the EU4Energy initiative held an online meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Energy and the company Beltopgaz on the potential natural gas market reforms in Belarus. During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges of the reforms and the main findings of the report on natural gas market reforms submitted to the Ministry of Energy prior to the meeting.

In addition, the parties also discussed issues like the choice of an appropriate gas market model, problems of third-party access, unbundling measures, the development of regulation on gas pricing, the guarantee of uninterrupted transit and security of supply, energy trading, and the role of supranational sectoral bodies.

Following the meeting, a set of recommendations were provided to Belarussian experts to help them plan the gas market reforms.
