A Light Festival will take place in Polack, Belarus, for the first time from 31 August – 2 September 2018. During the festival, 10 light installations will appear on the streets of Polack and there will be more than a dozen events organised in the city.

Polack citizens and city visitors will have the chance to see 3D projections on the front of the Dzvina Hotel, discover Polack during night city tours and public lectures, take part in master classes about night photo shooting, visit fire shows and take part in a bicycle race. For children there will be light puppet shows and workshops on light drawing. For more information about the festival and a detailed programme, visit the Polack Light Festival website.

The Light Festival in Polack is organised through the “PubLiCity” project, which is funded by the EU under the Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP). The project is implemented by Polack District Executive Committee and Interakcia Foundation and as a result, public lighting will be modernized on 16 Polack streets.

CoM-DeP are part of the EU4Energy initiative. EU4Energy covers all EU support to improve energy supply, security and connectivity, as well as to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewables in the Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine). It does this by financing projects and programmes that help to reform energy markets and to reduce national energy dependence and consumption. In the long term, this makes energy supply more reliable, transparent and affordable, thus reducing energy poverty and energy bills for both citizens and the private sector.
