Experts from Italy, Latvia and Lithuania will visit Belarus between 19-20 February to conduct a workshop raise awareness of quality and safety assurance among the country’s experts in the food industry. The event is being organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in cooperation with the country's Ministry of Industry.
The aim of the workshop is to increase awareness among food enterprises in Belarus of the quality and safety assurance requirements relating to the export and import of live animals and products of animal origin. Staff members from the Ministry of Industry of Belarus and representatives of food enterprises in the country will attend the session.
The EU Member State experts will seek to introduce the participants to the general food safety requirements and the overall EU regulatory framework, with a particular focus on the different stages of producing, processing, distributing and putting food on the market.
TAIEX is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the adaptation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to match those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association Agreements signed with the EU. In the Eastern Neighbourhood, TAIEX works with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
